Launceston in Tasmania

A light on Launceston, Tasmania

Busking in the Quadrant Mall is a regular feature of this small city, it makes us feel that we are a real city despite our comparative isolation across the Bass straight.  Life in Tasmania certainly has a different flavour to that on the main land.

I like colour spotting a monochrome image and here I present three such images. The flower on the cart makes the Quadrant Mall look somewhat French.

The tree ferns are everywhere.

What follows is my study of the city of Launceston in 2018

There some interesting Victorian buildings in the city which have had the fortune not to be removed by the arm of progress

My walk up the hill each night gives me a great view of Mount Arthur, Mount Barrow and Ben Lomond. Yes there is even a Ben Nevis in the range.

Reflections in windows always makes an interesting subject.

This shot of the old mill reflects the earlier days of the city

Once again an evening walk up the hill towards High Street

City Park is a place where one can meet people from all over the world as they gravitate to this small corner of Victoriana.

Through City Park gates and the gate house to the right.

The North Esk River walk when the tide is in.

The Town Hall is a magnificent building

Some more of City Park.

  1. Thank you Laurie for taking me through Launceston. Have lived here over 40 years and I still am not tired of all the sights that you have captured. Nicer in the photographs than the real things sometimes.😁
    Continue your walks.
